Dear heart, do not give up. It just takes awhile. It helped my son to fall asleep in the "big bed" with mom/dad, then wakened (slightly) to potty and go to his own bed. Worked like a charm -- after about 2 weeks of practice. (He's now 8!) Hang in there! Wishing you much success with the new little one, as well.
I am a sculptor, an adjunct professor and the mother of two boys: 3 and 1 years old. This blog is record of my attempt to find inspiration in the ordinary.
When I was six years old, I desperately wanted to wear a pair of green corduroys that were 2 sizes too big. So I put on 12 pairs of underwear and proudly wore them to school. I vividly remember pulling up each pair of underwear every time I went to the bathroom and thinking, "This is so worth it."
